a fun weekend!

On Friday, Sarah & I along with good friends Kristin & Blythe & Madeline, Katie & Sam, and Ashleigh & Hutchinson went to the Pumpkin Patch playground. It's a 30 minute drive, but is SO worth it!! It's an incredible playground - and Sarah had an absolute ball. Slides are about her favorite thing right now, so we went from slide to slide. She's mastered the technique of leaning back and lifting up her feet to go faster. So while her little buddies didn't even want to go down the slide, she's trying to go as fast as she can! She loved going down the biggest slide hand in hand with 3-year-old Blythe.

Lately, we've been eating out with my parents a lot on Saturday evenings. Mom jokes that her kitchen is closed from 5pm Saturday through Sunday. I'm simply too exhausted from cross-country stuff Saturday afternoon to even think about throwing together dinner. It's been fun to spend the time with them. And Sarah adores Grams (or Bams as she says) and Pops. Last night we ate downtown, and then walked down by the river to show Sarah the boats. Some bigger kids were going down a steep hill on their bellies - which Sarah immediately decided she wanted to do and called it a slide! :) We could not stop laughing!!! The pictures aren't the best - it was getting dark and the camera had a hard time deciding what it wanted to do ...

making bread

Just as I started making bread this morning, Sarah wanted my undivided attention. So this was the solution! After she polished off her cheerios and all the cherry tomatoes (this girl LOVES tomatoes) on the counter, she grabbed a banana and took a bite peel and all!

I tried a new bread recipe today, and it turned out well. Several of my friends have gotten into grinding their own flour and making all of their bread. I love the idea of it ... but am a LONG way off. :) Our problem is typically when I make a loaf of bread, we like it so much that we eat it in one day. Kinda defeats the purpose!

Discovery Museum

Last Friday, we went to the Discovery Museum and lunch with Beth, Teddy, & Wilder and Katie & Tilly. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of little Wilder. He is such a good baby! I hope our #2 is that chill! :) Beth and Katie have some great pictures from the day on their blogs. The kids were all so good at lunch - amazing to say with 3 toddlers!!!

You'll notice a new picture on the right ... hopefully I did it right and it will count the days of this pregnancy. 203 days to go seems FOREVER away! I know it will fly by though :)

A lot of people have asked how I'm feeling. To be honest, overall I've been a lot sicker than with Sarah. Yet the busyness of coaching and taking care of Sarah is a great distraction. I think the worst is winding down though. Hopefully at least! :)

21 months old!

Sarah is 21 months old today. I know all parents always say they can't believe how fast kids grow up. It's true! :) She is getting so big!!

She is still active and busy as ever. She is getting so verbal, but it's still mostly in one word increments. We joke that she offers a one-word running commentary on the world around her. I love listening to her repeat things I say. We spend a LOT of time every day reading books, or at least flipping through pages. She loves magazines with boats - so we've pulled out an old Wooden Boat magazine for her to look at. Jon has taught her the bow, stern, mast, and boom of a sail boat. Impressive!!!

We're teaching her that there is a baby in mama's tummy. Of course she often lifts her own shirt and says "baby!" At least she hasn't done that to Jon yet! :)

She still loves her sense of order. If there are clothes on the floor in our room, she puts them in the hamper for us; she closes any cabinet or drawer left open; she has specific spots to put things; etc. It's so funny!

For those of you that don't get to see Sarah often, I hope this gives a glimpse into her fun little personality!
Here's Sarah sitting on her pillow (watching Praise Baby), keeping Wooden Boat right by her side!Sarah and her books ... she likes to get a good pile so she doesn't have to keep getting down to get more ... Last weekend, we ate dinner with our dear friends Joel, Katie, & Tilly. Here are a few picture of bubbles on the porch and bath time ...

Baby #2!

Yep that's right! Sarah will be a big sister in early April! The official due date is April 6. We had our 1st doctors appointment yesterday - the ultrasound and heartbeat were perfect! I'd forgotten how absolutely amazing it is to see your tiny little munchkin moving around! We're very exited and so thankful for this gift from the Lord. Please pray that the pregnancy continues to go well and that we have a healthy, full term baby. And for the record - we're not going to find out if it's a boy or a girl, so let the anticipation build!! :)
