1st day of school

I'd planned on taking a picture to document her first day of "school" ... but between getting home at 7:30am from morning cross-country practice, to getting both girls ready, and everything in between, I didn't think about the picture until we were driving out the driveway. Sigh.

Sarah seemed a bit apprehensive when we first arrived, but grinned ear to ear as she walked in her classroom. It's a great group of kids. Last year, she was 1 of the very oldest and biggest. This year, she's jumped a class and is now on the younger end. I think she is going to love it! When I picked her up this afternoon, she was sitting on the floor reading a book. She looked up and saw me and said, "I'm going to read 2 books, Mom, and then I'll come see you." I guess I missed her more than she missed me! (on another note - she's calling me Mom a lot instead of Mama - it's funny - but I miss the sweetness of Mama)

So day 1 seemed to be a hit :)

Sweet Cora - she just looked so cute yesterday afternoon when she fell asleep in the bouncy seat :)

Then this morning, during breakfast, Sarah yelled "Cora rolled over!" WHAT?! Once I made sure she was ok, I just had to take a picture. I guess it's time to strap her in now!
I marvel at how she can move her little body. When she woke up this morning, she had 1 arm out of her night gown. How, people, did she do that????

Sarah quote

As Jon and Sarah were getting ready to read books before bed, Sarah said to Jon, "Papa, we need to read all of the books because it's dangerous to read just 2 of them."
Our summer is coming to a close. 6 days and my cross-country team arrives and we'll hit the crazy chaotic 3 month season. I'm sad and excited.

Here are some pictures of what we've been up to lately ...

the past 2 Sunday afternoons we've gone swimming (1 of the greatest joys in my life is seeing these 2 together)

Cora enjoying her pool side view

learning to swim with her swimmies

family hike
Jon wanted to show us the trails he's been mountain biking on lately
my attempts at a family self portrait didn't work too well!
Sarah walked the last 1/2 mile - I think she thought "hiking" was a destination rather than an activity :)

Yesterday was Cora's 1st time in the stroller without her car seat! She did great - taking a nice long nap!

You have to wonder how in the world she fell asleep in this position! :)

2 more funny Sarah stories

Mom kept Sarah the other day and as she was was folding laundry and Sarah sat down next to her and says, "Let's talk."
"Okay, what about?" says Grams
"Jesus. Jesus grew up so he could love me. He loves me better than you."
(guess we need to work on her theology!)

Last night our small group came over and 1 of the moms asked Sarah if she had fun in Maine. Sarah said yes. She then asked what Sarah did in Maine. Sarah said, "Ate dinner."
"Just once or every day?"
"Just once" says Sarah :)

Cora's 4 month check up

We had Cora's 4 month check up yesterday - she's doing great!! :)

She weighs 13 lbs 7 ounces (50%), is 24.5 inches tall (50-75%) and her head is in the 5-10% (ok, she clearly has Jon's head and Sarah has my head!!!)

At 4 months, Sarah weighed 14 lbs 12 ounces (75%), was 25.5 inches tall (90%) and her head was in the 90%!

Cora has slept all night 2 nights in a row - I feel like a new woman!!! She continues to be happy and laid back. She "talks" and coos and smiles all the time. She rolls all over the place - I've joked that she may crawl before she can sit up because she scoots and pushes herself quite a bit already! We love you little peanut!

Sarah said 2 funny things today that made me laugh -

Shortly after breakfast, she said "Wanna go somewhere Mama?" I said that we'd be going to Grams' house in a bit. Her response was "Whacha gonna go do Mama, while I play with Grams?" I told her I'd taking Cora to the doctor.

As we were packing up to leave, I started to tell Sarah something but wasn't doing a good job multi-tasking and my words trailed off. She looked at me and said, "Whacha trying to tell me Mama?"

All Creatures of Our God & King

kind of at least :) This is 1 of the new songs we've been working on. We laugh every time at her "alleluia"

eBay

My latest eBay purchase (I LOVE getting great deals on eBay!!!) ... Cora rolls and wiggles so much so she can't keep herself on the narrow little play mat I bought for Sarah. I couldn't bare to pay retail price, so I found this on eBay. Cora seems to like it, and Sarah is fascinated by it - constantly wanting to touch everything on it. Never new baby toys could be so mesmerizing to a 2 year old! And I know you all would like this picture far better if Sarah and Cora were in it, but let's be honest, their nap time = perfect blogging time! So sorry for the cute omission. I'll try to make up for it soon!
I'm a sucker for a good deal. I love coming home from the grocery store and seeing on the bottom of the receipt how much I saved in store savings and coupons. I'm floored when I find a steal of a deal on clothes or something else I've been looking for (like my $17 Banana Republic dress that I found at the outlet in Maine!!!). Jon just laughs at me.
