good breath

Mattie sure has good breath tonight! I've noticed that she likes to lick Sarah's bar of bath soap, that we keep on the edge of the tub. Tonight when Jon was giving Sarah a bath, the soap was no where to be found - so my assumption was that 1 of the dogs ate it. Nice. A bit later it dawned us Mattie had snuck out of the living room. Sure enough she was in the bathroom, eating the NEW bar of soap! Luckily we salvaged this bar - it just has some great teeth marks in it. And now she has the most lovely, soap smelling breath!!! I am a bit nervous about what a bar and a half of soap will do to her stomach ... that just may be a blog post to come! :)

Saturday fun

Sarah and I "cooked" together on Saturday - she sat on the counter and tore cilantro leaves off the stems, putting them in her measuring cup, as I made guacamole. I asked her what she was cooking and she confidently/matter of factly said "this." Great clarification! Every time she said guacamole, I laughed so hard - she kept saying "mac-inole." She loves sitting on the counter whenever I cook and it's been fun to give her little projects to do and watch her creativity sore!

We were making guacamole for fajita night at Joel, Katie, and Tilly's. We always love hanging out with these dear friends! And it has become a tradition for Sarah and Tilly to take a bath together. Oh these girls are too funny together!!! Our friends, Michael and Carly and 3 week old Ada came as well, but I didn't take any pictures :( Here are the girls in the bath ...

Aunt Betty turns 100!

Aunt Betty is like another grandmother to us/great grandmother to Sarah. She's my mom's aunt, so my great aunt and Sarah's great great aunt. She turned 100 years old today. Pretty mind blowing. Her older brother was my Papa - he died about 3 months before his 100th birthday. How about those genes in the family?! I sure hope I look as good as her if I make it to 100!! We celebrated with a girls lunch at Southside Grill. Yummy! And hats off to Sarah who handled it all so well - with lunch starting as she normally goes down for a nap. She definitely was exhausted by the end - she crawled up into my lap and said, "Nigh night, Mama sing?" - that was my cue to head home! :)

talking

Sarah is an absolute chatter box! We keep saying we've got to video her talking and singing. Every morning, as she wakes up, she sings. Sometimes this last an hour! - just happily singing in her crib. I LOVE listening to it through the monitor. Her most common songs are Holy Holy Holy, Praise to the Lord, ABC's, May the Lord, and Jesus Loves Me. She typically wakes up from her nap talking away in her crib. It's also been amazing to hear her transformation in her talking - so many words she is now saying correctly (like soccer used to be "saucer", and she now calls my mom Grams instead of "Bams"). And she loves to pretend, which can be absolutely hilarious to watch and hear her walking around the house talking in her own little world!

We laugh that she offers a running commentary on the world around her - pointing out EVERYTHING! Pronouns are still her biggest weakness - she gets he and she mixed up all the time, and she still talks in the 3rd person a lot. It's funny though! :)

She still has her shy streak with people she doesn't know well ... but give her 5 minutes she'll be showing off and talking away!

Colorado

Jon & I just got back from a GREAT trip to Colorado! Back in October for Jon's birthday, I secretly planned a ski trip for him with our good friends, Bob & Ginny. We flew out Wednesday morning, & headed up to Bob & Ginny's condo in Winter Park. We spent Thursday in Breckenridge with our cousins who live there - it was so fun to see them & get a taste of their life in Breck! 3 other cousins had planned a trip out the exact weekend as us, so Jon had a blast skiing with Dan, Will, Will, & Cartter!! Friday & Saturday, Jon & Bob skied Winter Park. Bob is in incredible shape & Jon ... well between the altitude & not being in the best of shape ... sure did enjoy trying to keep up! Sunday, the guys decided to cross country ski, so Ginny & I snowshoed. I'd always wanted to try both, but figured trying to balance on cross country skis while this pregnant wasn't smart. Snowshoeing was a lot of fun though! We got about 6 inches of snow Sunday night, so they skied 1 last day on Monday before we flew home on the red eye Monday night (left Denver at 1:15am Tuesday morning ... miserable!)

While Jon skied, I spent some time with Ginny, watched movies, read, walked around Winter Park, & simply relaxed. It was SO refreshing!! I feel so much more energized as we get ready for baby #2. I've been back at the rearrange/organizing already! :)

But wow did we miss Sarah! This was the longest we'd ever left her. Of course she had a BLAST with my parents! She's been so cuddly since we've back - it's so sweet!

Here are Colorado pictures

And our sweet Sarah! So glad to be back with you baby! :) We've had a lot of fun playing outside in this warm weather we're having ...
